There is this popular conspiracy theory, masons are ruling, the new order, the golden shield, etc. Flat-Earthers actually are believing in a global lie that hides the fact earth is flat.
These stories come with so many baggage, so many myths and legends. However, I guess one can give credit to each myth. Lobbies are real. I am not insinuating that there is a lobby that controls the world. However, a group of lobbies, a ring of lobbies, could realistically run the world.
I have no evidence, but lately don't feel prone to say there is no chance for such a scenario. Oligarchs of certain countries, such as Russia, Turkey, are controlling Syria. While organized crime is a thing and universally is connected with governments.
Interests have many angels or Nazguls if you like, serving their ring. Either through politics or alternative and sinister ways. Today, however, they are interconnected. Russia-Turkey, for example, creates an agenda with the US and accordingly with the UN. US policies are shifted by lobbies.
So it seems all these lobbies talk to each other. They create policies the move your life, and today is considered a fact they surveilled you and me. Who?. Friends of their friends. Are they organized under one ring to rule them all? I don't know. But it could be a manner of time. At least for the time being there are conflicting interests between rings, but what if they resolve them faster than we are able to realize?
Because after all, we have a life to attend, so busy to give thought and energy on such a vigilance. Moreover, we are fast dismissing such theories without consideration because it is a social stigma.
If they do? (people with power and lobbies) if they form one ring to rule us all! Will that be a problem? I guess the question one should answer first is if you trust them?

PS Well it's interesting that lord of the rings could be a simplified view of the matter. The kingdom of Elves, dwarf, and humans coexisted. The ring was a totem of the ruler of each race and kingdom. Evil Sauron though corrupted them through the creating of one ring. The one ring though is the embodiment of power (ok evil too!) Does power always corrupt? Uhm, I guess you need to be a happy "person" such as Tom Bombadil.
Anyhow Saruman and Sauron were the personifications of industrialism and greediness! Interesting how all fits nicely. I presume here I can state I hope God, Illuvatar, sent us agents of help.
